Two late turnovers iced Calvary Murrieta's 21-6 victory over host Acton Vasquez in a nonleague victory Friday night.
Justin Wilson passed for two first-half touchdowns as Calvary Murrieta improved to 4-3. Vasquez (4-3) saw its four-game winning streak come to an end after two turnovers inside the final 3 minutes, 30 seconds sealed the win for the Warriors.
Wilson connected on scoring passes of 17 yards to Morgan Maitland and 15 yards to Cole Walsh in the first half and Jonny Done scored on a 1-yard run for the Warriors. Max Keene finished with a game-high 67 yards rushing on 12 carries and Wilson finished with 81 yards on 5-of-14 passing.
CAL LUTHERAN 44, HIGH DESERT ACADEMY 14
At Wildomar: Ben Shober rushed for 116 yards and four scores and the C-Hawks won their first Victory League game to improve to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in league. Ben Rosenbaum added 106 yards rushing and a touchdown and Cal Lutheran limited High Desert Academy to 192 yards of total offense. The C-Hawks ---- which lost three of five fumbles ---- totaled 309 yards in that department and picked off three passes.
Cal Lutheran led 12-6 at the half before scoring 32 over the final two quarters.
BANNING 38, TAHQUITZ 21
At Banning: The Titans fell 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the Mountain Pass League with the loss.
CORNERSTONE 68, MARYWOOD PALM-VALLEY 38
At Rancho Mirage: The Crusaders (2-4) won their second game of the year in their Majestic League opener. Marywood fell to 3-2 and 1-1 in league.
PUBLIC SAFETY ACADEMY 67, TEMECULA PREP 14
At San Bernardino Valley College: The Patriots (0-6, 0-2) remained winless on the season with a loss to Public Safety Academy (4-1, 2-0) in a Majestic League game.
NOTE
Linfield Christian will play its first Big Sky League game Saturday night at California Military Institute in Perris at 7 p.m.
