SAN DIEGO ---- A former Westview High School wrestling coach pleaded no contest Friday to sending pornographic images to a 16-year-old girl.

Ryan Carnell, 28, had also faced a charge of furnishing marijuana to a minor, but that count was dismissed at a preliminary hearing in July.

The student testified that she met Carnell when she became a statistician for the Poway Unified School District school's wrestling team, and that the relationship turned personal.

She said she and the coach exchanged text messages up to 10 hours a day.

In February and March, Carnell began texting her messages of a more sexual nature.

A friend of the girl's told a teacher about the text message and Carnell was arrested.

He entered his no contest plea before Judge Jeffrey Fraser and is to be sentenced Oct. 27.
