OCEANSIDE -- Two beauty college students were improving Thursday after they were hurt when a car crashed through the front of a building and into their table and bench, a police officer said.
The accident happened about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Oceanside College of Beauty, 1575 S. Coast Highway, Officer Ken Newsom said. Erna Dudzik, 84, of Oceanside accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brakes as she pulled into the parking lot and struck the metal table and bench where at least eight students were sitting. Her car then continued forward and hit the front of the building shattering the large windows.
"She's not going to be arrested; it was an accident," Newsom said.
The girls are recovering nicely, he said. They were taken to a hospital mostly for precautionary reasons, Newsom said.
