An enchanting luncheon awaited more than 100 supportive ladies and gentlemen as they arrived to the second annual Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley Fashion for Foundations fundraiser on Oct. 27.
The event was held in the elegant dining room and bar at Frankie's Steak & Seafood, where proprietors Franco and Monica Vessia and Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Tammy Marine were on hand to welcome attendees.
With refreshments in hand, supporters visited with Leigh Donovan, co-owner of Tangerine Clothing Boutique, at her display table filled with designer clothing, purses, jewelry and accessories where she pledged 10 percent of the day's proceeds to Habitat.
Then attendees visited Anela Apothecary Beauty Boutique's co-owner, Michael Bommarito, at his display of alluring scents, lotions and make-up products where he lavished shoppers with skin care and treatment demonstrations after donating the make-up and hair artistry for the event models.
Bidders added their names to silent auction lists then took their seats as the fashion show began. Models including Charity Prestifilippo and Amanda Hughes showed off fall fashions by Tangerine, stopping at each table as diners including Lisa Favorite, Roof Rx; Melina Ferraez and Sher Mosqueda, The Promenade; Janene Hogan, Rancon Real Estate; and Nelly Hernandez enjoyed their three-course gourmet lunch.
As desserts were served, Barbara Tobin of Rancon Real Estate; Alisa Morrison of Tarbell Realtors; Tammy Wilson of Oak Grove; Maryellen Farrar, Tilly Franco, Rosalie Torres, Lena Moreno, Tracy Campbell and Brandy Coral listened as Gary Thornhill, president of the local Habitat for Humanity chapter, took the microphone and welcomed everyone to one of the group's largest fundraisers for the year. Then Thornhill thanked the board for their dedication and Marine for her work as executive director.
Marine took the microphone and thanked attendees and event contributors for their support and then presented a plaque and extended her gratitude to the Vessias for opening their doors and organizing the fundraiser.
Franco Vessia then drew the winning drawing ticket for the $100 gift certificate to The Promenade mall, which went to Kristin Woodbury.
Silent auction winners included Laurie Churchill, who won a golf package and the Farmer's Wife basket; Christine McCusker, who won two golf packages and a Pottery Barn basket; Kim Killiher, who won the Dream Dinners basket; Karin Linehan, who won a Jamie Tobey painting; and Kirsten Baker, who won a Brighton suitcase.
