Teen was reportedly drinking the night before
CARLSBAD -- Officials on Wednesday released the name of a 16-year-old boy found dead in a Sitio Lima home, reportedly after a night of drinking.
Scott Eugene Roberts was found dead at his friend's upscale Carlsbad residence Tuesday morning, officials said. An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday, but results were pending Wednesday night, they said.
A call to a telephone number associated with the address where Roberts was found was not answered Wednesday.
At about 9 a.m. Tuesday morning, a person called 911 from a house in the 7300 block of Sitio Lima near La Costa Avenue to report that the high school student was not breathing, a NorthComm emergency dispatcher said.
According to the dispatcher, the caller said he or she was the teenager's friend, and the two had been drinking together at the home.
The caller was given instructions on how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, police said.
Paramedics were not able to revive Roberts.
Police investigated at the home but did not find any signs of foul play, according to a Carlsbad Police news release. A Carlsbad dispatcher said there had been no arrests in the case Wednesday night.
Carlsbad Fire Battalion Chief Ed Sprague called the death "tragic," but said medical privacy laws prevented him from commenting on the circumstances. He said no adults were present in the house when medics arrived.
