C.R. Bard to acquire Venetec
CARMEL VALLEY -- C.R. Bard Inc. signed an agreement last month to acquire Venetec International, the Carmel Valley-based maker of StatLock safety securement devices for catheters and other medical applications, for $166 million in cash. Bard's medical division, located in Covington, Ga., will assume marketing responsibility for StatLock.
Companies settle over portfolio
RANCHO BERNARDO -- Patriot Scientific Corp., based in Rancho Bernardo, says that Fujitsu Limited purchased a license to use intellectual property protected by the Moore Microprocessor Patent Portfolio, co-owned by Patriot Scientific.
The license is a settlement of patent disputes between Fujitsu and the owners of the MMP Portfolio.
Carlsbad company gets piece of contract
Raytheon Co. of McKinney, Texas, was awarded a $16.1 million modification a contract by the U.S. Department of Defense. Carlsbad is among the locations where work will be performed.

IVOW subsidiary to work with Microsoft
CARLSBAD -- IVOW Inc., which provides management services to fight chronic and morbid obesity, says that its wholly owned subsidiary, Sound Health Solutions Inc., has signed an agreement with Microsoft to develop a pediatric weight management pilot program for children of Microsoft employees.
The program will be designed as two-week group camp for children ages 8 to 12 whose weight is at the 85th percentile or greater for their height, age and gender.
Financial Profiles strikes deal
CARLSBAD -- Financial Profiles Inc., which provides planning and advice solutions, says that Johnson Bank has signed a multiyear license agreement to deploy the Profiles+(TM) Professional planning tool to its trust and private banking group that serves 50 branches in Wisconsin and Arizona.
Bridgetech adds partners for project

Holocom signs agreement
CARLSBAD -- Holocom Networks, which has an office in Carlsbad, signed an agreement with Secured Processing Inc. to integrate the Sentinel Computer Security Technology in the new Holocom MultiDomain PC. The product is being marketed to Department of Defense facilities and military units.

TSA Contracting to work on space
CARLSBAD -- TSA Contracting was awarded a tenant improvement contract for a 5,000-square-foot office space for Earth Support Systems, to be located in the new Faraday Spectrum office and R&D park on Faraday Avenue. The space will provide headquarters for the engineering design company, which will be relocating from San Marcos.
Sheppard Mullin awards contract
DEL MAR -- Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP chose Johnson & Jennings General Contracting as the general contractor for the firm's $4.4 million, 52,000-square-foot office buildout at 12275 El Camino Real.

Callaway gives clubs to USMC
