The Palomar Radio Controlled Flyers recently hosted Los Caballeros, a local group for youths ages 8 to 18.

Members of the Palomar R/C Flyers showed the youths how to build, prepare for flight and fly radio-controlled airplanes. Club President George Dawe welcomed the youth group, which is sponsored by volunteers from Escondido and San Marcos. Volunteers Lynn Murphy, a personal assistant, and Ken Maculan, Nancy Howard and Fran Jensen, all local Realtors, provided the students with rides and chaperoned the event.

Each month, Los Caballeros volunteers take the youths to places they otherwise would not be able to go to without assistance from adult mentors. For information about joining the group or becoming an adult volunteer, e-mail Lynn Murphy at murphyncal@cox.net.

The more we, as community member, take the time to encourage youngsters to pursue positive activities, the more likely they will be to grow into the productive, pro-active adult members of society, we wish for.

BRAVO for the Palomar RC/Flyers. Long may a friendly breeze lift their wings...
