Reality TV show to open in Fallbrook

FALLBROOK ---- A bed-and-breakfast that is the focus of a reality television show being filmed in Fallbrook and featuring actress Tori Spelling will open this Saturday with a red carpet media reception, an Oxygen Network spokeswoman said Wednesday.
The show, dubbed "Inn Love" and scheduled to premier March 20, will spend six episodes documenting the efforts of Spelling, 33, and her husband, Dean McDermott, to run the bed-and-breakfast, said network representative Noelle Llewellyn.
The inn, off Olive Hill Road in southwest Fallbrook, formerly was operated as Oak Creek Manor. Spelling and McDermott reportedly bought the property in January after holding an estate sale to raise money for the project.
The inn may begin hosting guests as soon as next week, Llewellyn said.
Local officials have welcomed the idea of a reality TV show being filmed in the quiet outskirts of Fallbrook, known as the "Friendly Village." They say publicity is good for a community trying to boost its status as a tourist destination, and they hope the show portrays the town positively.
Spelling, who became popular as a young actress on the TV series "Beverly Hills 90210," is the daughter of the late TV producer Aaron Spelling and is pregnant with her first child. She is due soon after the show premieres, the Oxygen Network has said.
Filming for the show is already in progress, Llewellyn said. Several events, such as a baby shower for Spelling in mid-February, have already been taped for the show, and Llewellyn said Saturday's opening gala will probably also be featured on the show.
Llewellyn said the name of the inn will be announced Saturday night. A contest in which Oxygen viewers wrote in to suggest names ended Feb. 21.
"The winner gets to fly out and be at the opening to meet Tori and Dean," Llewellyn said. "(The name of the inn) will be announced that night."
In January, Spelling told the Los Angeles Daily News that she hopes to "reinvent the B&B for our generation," with a more modern take on the cottage hospitality business.

If I wanted to live by celebrities I'd live in L.A. or Orange County. I know the chamber of commerce is thrilled to have this spectacle here. I doubt the average resident is.

I just think the creators of the show believe filming this reality show in small town USA is a novel idea...it just seems a bit desperated and over played. If I wanted a over exposed crowded town...I would be living in LA or OC. Well bottom line is I'm a bit disappointed and not impressed.

Vista, San Marcos, Escondido and other cities have nice places to go for an evening of entertainment and dining. My family and I have to leave town for our entertainment. A town of this size needs 20 or more nice restaurants in a nice area, not tucked between consignment shops and other low rent businesses. Forget the friendly village bull, it's not true. It is just and advertising slogan and nothing more. There are lots of nice homes and custom builders in Fallbrook and a drive through the countryside is invigorating, but the city is horrible.

Fallbrook, get your act together and build a town center with a movie theater, restaurants, boutiques and some upbeat businesses. I have an idea for a motto: Fallbrook, not much here but a few friendly people.

We live in SoCal so these old school farmers need to wake up and let business clean things up for the better for everyone. Drop the good O'l boys network and let’s get on with a town we can all enjoy. We have the people here now we just need a place to spend our money and stop giving it to San Marcos, Oceanside, and Vista let alone out of the county to Temecula.
